“Teacher as Artist” Summer Arts Institute 2008
June 16 – 20, 2008

8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

A chance to re-connect with ourselves as artists, interact with peers doing similar work with similar challenges, and pool our creative energy to spark new approaches to teaching.

Open to: All Bay Area teachers.

Presented and hosted by: Oakland Unified School District in partnership with the Alameda County Office of Education’s Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership.

Institute Description
Become part of a lively group of colleagues immersed in the arts for a full week. Discover the artist within and build skills and knowledge in an arts discipline so that you can confidently bring arts-based teaching to your students. By creating in an arts discipline ourselves, we personally discover the power of the arts to transform learning. We will also actively document their learning with the Making Learning Visible process, sharing insights with each other from the various workshops being offered. You will leave with new instructional strategies, resource materials, and an appreciation of yourself as an artful educator.  Click here to view the workshop descriptions.
